The Story of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

An orphan who was called the trustworthy by the same people who later drove him out, and who answered the question of why he still prayed all night with a single sentence.

Al-Amin

He was born after his father had died and lost his mother at six. In a city of traders he earned a name before he earned anything else: al-Amin, the trustworthy.

At forty, in a cave above Makkah, the first revelation came: Read, in the name of your Lord who created (Qur'an 96:1). He came home shaking, and his wife Khadijah answered his fear with the observation that Allah would never disgrace a man who carried the weak and kept ties of kin.

The nights

He stood in prayer at night until his feet swelled. He was asked why, when he had already been forgiven what came before and after. He answered: Should I not be a grateful servant? (Bukhari 4837).

This is the practice the whole of Midnight Dua is built around — not worship to earn a pardon, but worship as gratitude for one already given.

The day he could have taken revenge

After years of persecution, boycott, and exile, he entered Makkah with an army and without a fight. He had the name of every person who had driven out his companions, buried their dead, and mocked his message.

He asked them what they expected of him. They said: a noble brother, and the son of a noble brother. He said: Go, you are free. The Qur'an describes the whole of his mission in four words: a mercy to the worlds (Qur'an 21:107).
