MIDNIGHT لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen
There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have indeed been among the wrongdoers.
Duas for Forgiveness
Istighfar is not one formula but a family of them, from a single word to the long supplication the Prophet ﷺ called the master of seeking forgiveness.
Sayyid al-Istighfar, below, is the longest and the weightiest: Bukhari 6306 records that whoever says it during the day with certainty in it and dies that day enters Paradise. The shortest, “Astaghfirullah”, was said by the Prophet ﷺ more than seventy times a day though he had no sin to answer for.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Rabbighfir li wa liwalidayya wa lil-mu'mineen
My Lord, forgive me, my parents, and the believers.
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa il-lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasireen
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the lost.
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ
Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka
O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant, holding to Your covenant as best I can. (Sayyid al-Istighfar)
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni
O Allah, You are Pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
Astaghfirullaha al-'azeem alladhi la ilaha illa huwal-hayyul-qayyumu wa atubu ilayh
I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, besides whom there is no god, the Living, the Sustaining, and I turn to Him in repentance.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَاغْفِرْ لِي
Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman katheeran wa la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta faghfir li
O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and none forgives sins but You, so forgive me.

What is Sayyid al-Istighfar?
The master supplication for forgiveness, beginning “Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka”. Bukhari 6306 states that whoever recites it by day with certainty and dies before evening will be among the people of Paradise.
How many times did the Prophet ﷺ say istighfar daily?
More than seventy times a day according to Bukhari 6307, and in Muslim 2702 it is reported as a hundred times, despite his being already forgiven.
